Who We Are

Thomas Anderson is an AAAS Science and Technology Policy Fellow placed with USDA FAS New Technologies and Production Methods Division as a subject matter specialist for genome editing.  He is organizing the 2019 Asia Pacific Economic Cooperation (APEC) High Level Policy Dialog on Agricultural Biotechnology.  Dr. Anderson holds B.S. and M.S. degrees in Biology and Entomology from the University of Illinois, Champaign-Urbana, and a Ph.D. in Entomology from North Carolina State University.  At FMC Corp. (2005-15), Dr. Anderson managed international field development projects.  At BASF Corp. (1985-2005), he helped design the insecticide research labs and rearing facility at RTP, NC, and coordinated development programs for many products.  At the Boyce Thompson Institute at Cornell University (1981-85), he developed IPM programs utilizing bacterial and fungal pathogens. Dr. Anderson received the President's Volunteer Service Award for his pesticide safety programs in the Middle East and Africa with the USAID Feed the Future - Farmer to Farmer Program.  Dr. Anderson is a Science Policy Fellow with the Entomological Society of America, and is also a certified beekeeper and a life member of the NC State Beekeepers Association.
